I needed a scanner to convert about 1,000 slides from decades ago into pdf files that I can then watch on my computer monitor or on TV. I purchased the Canoscan 4400F on the basis of price and after reading the comments from other Amazon buyers of this product. I am extrememly pleased with this scanner. It is easy to use, the software is clear and simple, and the scan time is reasonably short. Using the default 1200 dpi for the output resolution it takes about 4 minutes to complete a scan of the four slides in the tray. The results are excellent. The scanned pictures are much clearer on my monitor than the original slides were when projected on a screen. I have also used the scanner for printed photographs and other documents and the results were equally outstanding. For my purpose this scanner is a great buy and I can recommend it.
