From the supplier: York Central School District in Retsof, NY reports good results utilizing Apple Computer Inc's Early Language Connection package. A donation from Apple brought a package comprised of four Apple Macintosh LCII microcomputers, a CD-ROM drive, an AppleOne scanner, ImageWriter printer and a suite of software programs designed to boost participation and motivation levels of kindergartner students. The ELC package is designed to effect the curricular aims of the Whole Language Instruction approach, which stresses active participation in the learning process. The program enables students to develop reading, thinking and sequencing skills as they develop a foundation of language-based creativity. The result has been a markedly high level of performance by a motivated group of beginning students.
